The Thomas S. Foley Federal Courthouse project is a LEED EBOM (Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance project. LEED EBOM is a whole-building rating system. It was developed for owners of existing buildings to reduce the impact of their existing buildings on the environment and to improve the buildings life cycle function. By implementing minor alterations to the existing Federal Courthouse building, streamlining waste management, modifying cleaning practices through use of environmentally friendly cleaning products and improving indoor building environments the owner can increase the longevity and sustainability of the building and improve the environment for the building tenants. It has been shown healthy building environments help tenants have a more positive attitude and work ethic, and pass their outlook on to their clients and all those they come in contact with.
Those involved in the LEED process are the design team of Brightworks Sustainability Advisors, Lydig Construction, McKinstry, and Integrus Architecture, with LEED liaison Chuck Crane.
